When most couples think of the best places to elope in Moab, their minds instantly go to the famous stone spans of Arches National Park. And we get it — sunrise at Delicate Arch or under the towering Windows is unforgettable.
But what if we told you that some of the most breathtaking places to say your vows in Moab lie beyond Arches?
As a husband-and-wife photo + video team who said our own vows here in the desert, we’ve spent countless hours exploring every red rock trail and hidden overlook. Here are some of our favorite spots to elope in Moab that go beyond the obvious — places that feel private, wild, and deeply personal.
Dead Horse Point is one of the most dramatic vistas in all of Utah. Standing on the edge, you’ll look out over the Colorado River snaking 2,000 feet below, with layers of canyons stretching as far as the eye can see.
It’s a stunning place to say your vows at sunset, when the cliffs catch fire with golden light. The main overlook is easy to access and absolutely epic, but there are also quieter rim trails where you can find your own private corner. Plus, the state park permit process is simpler than many national parks, making it perfect for stress-free elopements.
Just down the road from Dead Horse lies the Island in the Sky district of Canyonlands. This lesser-known neighbor to Arches features vast overlooks, dramatic mesas, and some of the best sunrises anywhere.
Mesa Arch is famous (and busy), but sunrise vows there can be magical if you’re willing to wake up early. For something more secluded, we love Grand View Point — where the layered canyons stretch endlessly, giving you a ceremony backdrop that feels like another planet.
Because it’s a national park, you’ll need a simple special use permit, but we help guide all our couples through that process so it’s a breeze.
Some of our absolute favorite Moab elopements have happened far beyond the paved roads, on BLM land accessible by Jeep or high-clearance trail. Think natural arches with no one else around, secret overlooks, and tucked-away slot canyons.
If you want your wedding day to feel like a true adventure, we’ll help plan an off-road route that ends with popping champagne in complete desert solitude. Bonus: many of these BLM areas have minimal restrictions or permit needs for small ceremonies, so you can keep it simple and focus on what matters most.
For couples who love the idea of red rocks but want something a little greener, the Colorado River corridor is perfect. Towering canyon walls rise dramatically from the riverbanks, giving you the best of both worlds — lush cottonwoods in season, water views, and those unmistakable Moab cliffs.
There are plenty of riverside pull-offs or short trails where you can have an intimate ceremony without hiking miles into the backcountry.
Whether you dream of saying your vows with nothing but canyons stretching behind you, dancing under the stars on a Jeep trail, or finding a quiet riverside nook, we’ll help you pick the perfect spot.
Every couple we work with gets a personalized Location Guide based on your vision, accessibility needs, and sense of adventure. We’ve explored countless trails ourselves (including for our own wedding here!), so we know exactly how to match you with a place that feels private and unforgettable.
